This product’s main body is made by cutting a polished copper plate with metal scissors to match the mold, and punching out all the curves, and soldering it. After that, we scrape off the excess solder from the connection part and moisten it. The surface is polished by applying sand with a scrubber-like tool made of bundles of rice straw. Furthermore, this unique amber color is materialized by boiling the entire surface in copper sulfate solution. If you handle it with bare hands, the parts you have touched would discolor, so we take the utmost care when handling this product. There are two types of replacement spouts: a flat spout and a round spout, and each hole in the spout is poked one by one by a craftsman with a needle. The protrusions on the back side are polished with pine ash. Although the holes are irregular, it can be said that this is a true masterpiece that embodies the origin of its name of the tube itself. This item was created by the second son of Chojusai Matsumura, who was a famous copper craftsman during the Meiji and Taisho eras. He was a craftsman who was trained by the father, but since he passed away, the passing down of the technique has ceased unfortunately, and there are only a few products of the model available today.
